Japan-headquartered heavy lifting and transportation firm Denzai has purchased a second 2,500-tonne capacity LR12500-1.0 crawler crane from Liebherr, with delivery slated for March 2026.

The new unit is the world’s first in a ballast wagon (MBW) configuration – developed by Liebherr in cooperation with Cometto – made specifically for Denzai. The MBW configuration allows Cometto MPSE eSPMTs to be used as the ballast wagon.
The 2,500-tonne capacity crane will bolster Denzai’s capabilities in heavy lifting, primarily in offshore wind projects and large-scale power plant construction, both in Japan and globally.
Kohki Uemura, president and ceo, Denzai, said that the MBW configuration enables the operation of this massive crane within confined spaces, ”which is necessary for Japan’s offshore wind projects. The crane’s first assignment will involve port handling and pre-assembly work for Vestas V236-15.0 MW turbines, following delivery in March 2026.”

According to Liebherr, the SPMTs can be controlled entirely using the crane’s control system, which removes the need for additional operating personnel.
Earlier this month, Denzai formed a strategic partnership with Singaporean crane and heavy equipment company Hiap Heng Heavyequipment.
