March 14 - Modulift designed and built bespoke spreader beams for the installation of a gas turbine on board the British Royal Navy's new aircraft carrier, HMS Queen Elizabeth.

The Rolls Royce MT30 turbine - one of the world's most powerful gas turbines - was installed at Babcock's Rosyyth Shipyard, Scotland.

Having worked together on various heavy lift projects in the past, Rolls Royce approached UK headquartered Modulift to design and manufacture a lifting solution for the 50-tonne turbine.

Modulift delivered a 'one over two' lifting rig that enabled the turbine to be lifted level, despite a 75/25 offset centre of gravity. The steel housed turbine was installed onboard the 65,000 dwt Queen Elizabeth successfully.

Richard Charlton of Rolls Royce added, "All went to plan without a single problem."
