Fesco has transported parts of nuclear-powered submarines from Kamchatka to a decommissioning site in Primorsky Krai, Russia.

On behalf of Radioactive Waste Management Enterprise (RosROA), part of Rosatom, Fesco chartered a specialised semi-submersible vessel for the project.

Together with designers from the Lazurit Central Design Bureau and engineers from TransEngineering Company (TEC), Fesco prepared the deck of the vessel for each item. This required over 300 structures and special mountings.

All preparatory works took place in Shanghai before the vessel headed to Russia’s Kamchatka territory.

Four tugs were used for the loading and transportation of the blocks, with a total transit time of 22 days.
