Port agency and maritime services company Inchcape Shipping Services has opened an office in Las Palmas, Spain as it looks to expand its global footprint.

Inchcape highlighted the port of Las Palmas location at the crossroads of Europe, West Africa and the Americas as a reason to open there. The port handles over 12,000 vessel calls every year and serves as a key hub for breakbulk cargo, container transhipments, ship repairs and bunkering, as well as other services.

“This new office allows us to better support our clients operating in the Mid-Atlantic region, offering seamless, 24/7 service across a wide range of vessel types and maritime activities,” explained Daniel Vikstrom, regional ceo for EMEA at Inchcape.

The company’s Las Palmas office will provide a suite of port agency services, including full port agency and protective agency services; bunker calls and husbandry services; dry docking support and crew changes logistics; and cargo operations coordination.

The port of Las Palmas has more than 15 km of berthing line with depths ranging from 3-45 m, ship-to-shore (STS) cranes, multipurpose docks and shipyard facilities. It is also undergoing a digital transformation through initiatives like Ports 4.0, which features real-time cargo tracking, paperless workflows, and AI-driven logistics systems.

Last September, Inchcape opened an office at the port of Arica, Chile.
